WHITMORE LAKE, Michigan -- Vanguard, a leading provider of photography accessories, today announced that it has received 3 prestigious Red Dot Design Awards. The products that won the award include the Alta Pro 2+ 263CT carbon fiber tripod (Coming Soon), the Alta Sky 51D backpack, and the VEO Discover 46 backpack (Coming Soon). The products that Vanguard submitted proved their excellence in the most prestigious international competition for product design, which this year included nearly 5,000 entries from 56 countries.
Vanguard founders credit our success to the people, across the globe, who have given supportive and valuable feedback about product features and price points over our three decades. This focus on listening to the market’s needs and wants has inspired us to create products with first-of-its-kind features, notable reliability and impressive price points.
“Over the past 3 years, Vanguard has changed the way we create products. The design teams have demonstrated true care for the photographers that are going to use these products. Our goal was not to design and manufacture something beautiful, but also to be first to bring to market Collections that will define the users experience.” said Joshua Pawlak, Global Marketing Director at Vanguard.
On 3, July 2017, the presentation of the internationally renowned quality seal will take place in the course of the red dot gala. More than 1,000 international guests from the design world, industry, society and the media will gather that evening in the Aalto-Theater, the opera house in Essen, in order to celebrate the highlight of this year’s competition. Afterwards, the Vanguard Alta Pro 2 Tripod, the Alta Sky Backpack, and the VEO Discover backpack will be on display at a four-week special exhibition in the red dot design museum.
About the Red Dot Design Award
The origins of the Red Dot Design Award date back to 1955. The institution behind the competition is the Design Zentrum NRW, which is led by Professor Dr. Peter Zec since 1991. Its distinction, the “Red Dot”, is established internationally as one of the most sought-after quality marks for good design. In order to assess the diversity in the field of design in a thorough and professional manner, the award breaks down into three competitions: the “Red Dot Award: Product Design”, “Red Dot Award: Communication Design” and “Red Dot Award: Design Concept” – each is organized once a year. From products to communication projects and packaging to design concepts and prototypes, the Red Dot Award documents the most prominent trends worldwide. The award-winning designs are exhibited in the Red Dot Design Museums. For more information, visit www.red-dot.org/press.
Product Evaluation
The products, communication projects and concepts entered in the Red Dot Award are evaluated by an expert jury. It is comprised of independent designers, design professors and specialized journalists who have committed to a “Code of Honour”: They can neither be employed by an industrial manufacturing company nor participate in the adjudication of products in which they were involved in any way. This aims at preventing any situation in which the members of the Red Dot jury assess their own achievements or those of direct competitors. The evaluation is carried out directly on the object, live and on site. The submissions do not compete with each other. Every draft, seen individually, is tested, discussed and assessed. Depending on the competition, the adjudication process is based on a range of criteria that are constantly adapted to current standards.
